Party City Corporation was ordered to pay $878,750 this month as part of a settlement in a prosecution resulting from the company’s mishandling of hazardous waste throughout California.
The funds will be used in part to support environmental training initiatives, reported the Daily Democrat.
Party City, a Delaware-based company, mishandled hazardous waste and materials—including aerosol products, batteries, cleaning agents, and electronic devices—over a period of five years. The judgment instructs Party City to properly label, package, and store hazardous waste and to properly dispose of hazardous waste at authorized facilities.
