Residents in the Tampa, FL, area were at risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens after more than 50,000 pounds of untreated biomedical waste was left in trailer and shipping containers at a storage center in Plant City.
State officials said the biomedical waste included IV lines, bloody gloves, expired medicine, and chemotherapy waste, among other items. Police have made an arrest in connection with the untreated waste, reports the Tampa Bay Times.
